BMW Tease

31st May 2023

Introducing from BMW a fantastically sleek looking two seat touring coupe. They have combined the stylish front of the Z4, (a design I really like), with a bespoke estate rear end, which reminds me more of their X range. This short sports shooting brake looks fantastic, from the long bonnet to the bulging rear arches. It harks back to the nineties and the Z3 coupe. Although that didn’t look nearly as good, in fact it looked a little like a walking boot. So, the less we say about that the better.

They have made a few tweaks to the front of this car. The grills are a little thinner, which I like. I’m not a fan of the new thin tall things that are on a lot of the newer BMWs, and they have made it a little longer than on the Z4 giving a very pleasing overhang. The wheels are 20inch at the front and 21inch at the rear, which just adds to the design in my opinion, and makes the big kid in me smile.

As it is a coupe it has frameless windows, which do look great when you open the door with the window down. The addition of a small roof spoiler adorning a flatter sharp boot adds to the class oozing from this design. The touches of bronze on the grill, wheels and c frames are great finishing touches. Not only does it look good from the front the back and the rear but from above it is equally as breath taking.

The interior has had a very plush upgrade from the Z4 interiors we have grown used to. Although I’m not sure how useful a leather boot is (might be a little slippery for the luggage). I do like the z stitching on the seats and the extra quality that has gone into the materials used in the interior. But alas there is a problem, it is only a concept design and a one-off model with no plans to put it into production. As the Z4 is set to stop production in 2026 and no word from BMW as to its replacement, it looks like this is just another fantastic concept vehicle that never makes it to the factory floor. It's such a shame, as there is very little like this in today’s market.
